The University of South Alabama Gulf Scholars Program provides a unique experience, designed to create an inclusive community of diverse students to equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary for transdisciplinary careers of resilience within the Gulf of Mexico.
The University of South Alabama Stokes School of Marine and Environmental Sciences is recruiting ten students to form an inaugural group of Gulf Scholars, a new program supported by the National Academies Gulf Research Program. This program is designed to help students gain the knowledge and skills to become future leaders and change agents for a more sustainable and resilient Gulf of Mexico. The program is open to current and transfer students within their first or second undergraduate year across all majors and requires a two-year long commitment.
The program includes field trips, community engagement, formal mentorship opportunities, a funded research experience, and skills development in leadership, innovation, communication and teamwork.
