USA Libraries Statement on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

As part of our commitment to diversity and inclusion, USA Libraries support and follow diversity, equity, and inclusion statements and guidance from the American Library Association, ALA’s Association of College & Research Libraries, the Medical Library Association and MLA Communities, the Society of American Archivists, and the Alabama Library Association. We will continue to:

  • provide equitable access to information to all people, regardless of race, gender, class, sexual orientation, national origin, or disability;
  • be committed to the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion in our collections, programs, and exhibits, through our community and university outreach, and by serving as a cultural crossroads for the campus and community;
  • provide an accessible, inclusive, welcoming, and safe environment where communities can gather, discuss, and grow;
  • attempt to reflect the diversity of the wider community in our libraries by employing a diverse workforce;
  • use available resources to help educate the community on matters that deal with diversity, equity, and inclusion, and the right for all individuals to have equal protection under the law.
