height of the highest 1/3 of the waves. Individual waves may be

more than twice the significant wave height.

Synopsis for the Gulf of America

428 PM EST Sun Feb 1 2026



.SYNOPSIS...A tight pressure gradient between strong high

pressure building across the area and a deepening low off the U.S.

Mid-Atlantic coast is maintaining fresh to locally strong NW to N

winds at the eastern Gulf, and moderate to fresh N to NE winds 

at the central Gulf. Seas remain near 12 ft over the east-central

and southeastern Gulf. As the low pulls northeastward toward the 

north-central Atlantic tonight, conditions at the eastern Gulf 

will improve further. By Mon, a high building eastward will

support gentle to moderate winds and moderate seas for the central

and eastern Gulf. For the western Gulf, a period of fresh to

strong southerly winds are anticipated from Mon evening through 

Tue morning. Another cold front is expected to enter the northern 

Gulf on Wed, then sweep southward across the Gulf through Thu 

night. It will bring another round of fresh to strong northerly 

winds and rough seas.
