The Performance Nutrition minor is designed to enhance competency in nutritional concepts and strategies as they relate to human performance, sport, and exercise adaptations. The Performance Nutrition minor integrates coursework from the exercise science and nutrition science disciplines. Having a dual focus allows for students to gain a better understanding of how both nutrition and exercise impact human performance, health, and disease. The coursework helps students prepare for certification exams including the Certified Sports Nutritionist (CISSN) and if coupled with the Exercise Science Bachelor of Science Degree, the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) examination- the premier certifications in strength and conditioning and spots nutrition. Careers in performance and sport nutrition lead to work with individuals and groups who are healthy, active, and highly competitive or are seeking to develop or rebuild an active, healthy lifestyle.
